Vocab-

Don't worry if some of the words in the paragraph aren't in this vocab list; it's either they are conjugated differently or I just forgot :).
If I did forget, just DM the word to me

  • uno/una = one
  • mosquito = mosquito (duh)
  • después = after

Conjugations-

Spanish is very different from other non-romance languages.

In Spanish, we have different verbs which are then conjugated for different adjective types

The infinitives are conjugated differently for different people depending on the amount/who you are talking to.

Trust me, it will make more sense as you go down (If I manage to explain it to you well enough)

Different Adjective Types: *ALL EXAMPLES ARE RESPECTIVE TO PREVIOUS ORDERS*

  • (etc. escuchar, escribir (to listen, to write)) ---> escuchar = to listen, escribir = to write
    • First Person Singular: yo - me/I
    • Second Person Informal: tú - you
    • Third Person Singular: él/ella - he/she
    • First Person Plural: nosotros - we
    • Second Person Plural: vosotros - them (only used in Spain)
    • Third Person Plural: ellos/ellas - them (male/female)

Depending on whom you are speaking with, you will use these different adjective types.
Each different adjective type results in a different conjugation of a verb.
Depending on whether a verb ends in -ar, -er, or -ir, the verb has a different conjuugations.
I will use the words hablar (to talk) comer (to eat), and vivir (to live) as examples of the two different verb endings.

Different Conjugations: *ALL EXAMPLES ARE RESPECTIVE TO PREVIOUS ORDERS*

  • (etc. escuchar, escribir (to listen, to write)) ---> escuchar = to listen, escribir = to write)
    • yo: o ---> hablo, como, vivo (I talk/eat/live)
    • tú: as, es, es ---> hablas, comes, vives (You talk/eat/live)
    • él/ella: a, e, e ---> habla, come, vive (He/She talks/eats/lives)
    • nosotros: amos, emos, imos ---> hablamos, comemos, vivimos (We talk/eat/live)
    • vosotros: áis, éis, ís ---> habláis, coméis, vivís (They (Spain) talk/eat/live)
    • ellos/ellas: an, en, en ---> hablan, comen, viven (They (masuline or feminine) talk/eat/live)

Past Tenses -

In Spanish the past tense can be either preterite or imperfect (different forms).
I won't delve too much into that because I probably won't have enough room.
Anyways, here are the conjugations for verbs in the preterite (past) tense
Once again I will use hablar (to talk) and comer (to eat) as examples of the two different verb endings.
In preterite form -er endings and -ir endings are the same, which is why there are only two examples

*Also, the verb "ir" is irregular and changes to separate word when converted to preterite. (HINT: starts with an "f")

Preterite Conjugations: *ALL EXAMPLES ARE RESPECTIVE TO PREVIOUS ORDERS*

  • (etc. escuchar, escribir (to listen, to write)) ---> escuchar = to listen, escribir = to write)
    • yo: -é, -í, ---> hablé, comí (I talked/ate)
    • tú: -aste, -iste ---> hablaste, comiste (You talked/ate)
    • él/ella: -ó, -ió ---> habló, comió (He/She talked/ate)
    • nosotros: -amos, -imos ---> hablamos, comimos (We talked/ate)
    • vosotros: -asteis, -isteis ---> hablasteis, comisteis (They (Spain) talked/ate)
    • ellos/ellas: -aron, -ieron ---> hablaron, comieron (They (masculine or feminine) talked/ate)
